Abstract: As a typical geographical space and social phenomenon of post-urbanization and urban-rural transformation, gentrification has become a hot topic in the academic field. Chinatown in Vancouver is selected as a case study to reveal the impact of anti-gentrification movement on the city. First, the anti-gentrification movement in Vancouver is divided into three stages: resisting slum clearance, resisting cultural alienation, resisting the increase of living costs. Then it is proposed that the anti-gentrification movement has three characteristics: consolidation alliance in the horizontal dimension, deep participation in the vertical dimension, and flexible organization mechanism. However, the anti-gentrification movement also has its limitations. Finally, from the three points of government guidance, poverty compensation, and community construction, it puts forward enlightenment and experience to urban renewal in China.
